Introduction

In South Sudan many basic institutions and capacities have not existed for decades beyond the most rudimentary level. At the same time local communities and private sectors have demonstrated considerable capacity to survive under the most difficult conditions – a source of capacity that South Sudan can tap into right way and which must not be lost in the rush to rebuild post conflict South Sudan and in eagerness to deliver the peace dividend. It is in the light of this background that comes the important of the education. This resulted to creation of the University of Bahr el Ghazal in the year 1991 and implemented in 1992. The college of Economic was established in the year 2003, with only two Departments under the name of College of Economic & Rural Development. The Departments were Department of Rural Development and Department of Economics. Later on five more departments were created namely: department of Accounting, department of Business Administration, department of Political Science, department of Statistics & Demography and department of Sociology & Social Anthropology.

Vision: The vision of the college is to improve and strengthen socio-economic development of the country.

Mission: The mission of the college administration is to achieve the following points: –

• Develop academic programme that meet market demands and ensure quality Teaching, learning and research
• Establish modern information communication system and technological infrastructure to good service delivery to faculty staff and students.
• Develop major programmes of reform that are urgently needed.
• Ensure quality, quantity, equity, efficiency and effectiveness in all aspects of higher education.
