Introduction

College of Education is one of the pioneer Colleges in the University of Bahr el Ghazal. It was opened in 1991 when the University was first established in the region. There are nine departments in the College: Education, Biology, Chemistry, English & Literature, Arabic Language, Religious Studies, History, Geography, Physics and Mathematics.

This College has graduated about eighteen batches for the last few years. They are giving educational services to the citizen across the country. Most of the teaching staff are graduates of this College. The College is carrying out intensive English Course to all the first year students in different Colleges before starting lectures of their normal academic year. The College has improved the standard of Education in the State because most of the teaching staff are involved in teaching activities at primary and secondary school levels as one of its contributions toward the community. The College administration distributes student-teachers to various schools to teach for one full semester before their graduation in order to assess their standard and performance in teaching career.

Finally, College of Education is playing a great role in improving the standard of Education in our country where the rate of illiteracy is very high.
